Day 7 – Yulara – Alice Springs Via Kings Canyon. (626kms)
This was just a purely driving day and I didn’t take many photos. (The following are all instagram photos so excuse the not so great quality)
Although I did see one of these trees out in the middle of nowhere…
Our first sighting of the West Macs!
We checked into the fabulous Big 4 holiday park which was by far the best park I’ve stayed in in Australia!
Then went out for dinner at The Overlander Steak House in The Alice where I had The Drovers Blow out consisting of Soup (Served from a billy) a platter of Croc Vol Au Vents (My god I love Croc!), A Kangaroo Fillet, Emu Medallion and Camel Fillet (Camel is also awesome!)
This was followed by a Steak and an amazing Pavloa.
Jade just HAD to try a Darwin Stubby for those who don’t know what that is…
He drank it all and I had to drive back to the room that night…
Day 8 – The West Macs
Day 8 saw us exploring the West Macs, there is some absolutely beautiful country out there with lots of water holes where alot of people were swimming.
First stop was Simpsons Gap.
Then Standley Chasm, I saw a baby brown snake and calmly freaked out (AKA did not scream) about it then I was paranoid for the rest of the trip as I HATE snakes!
Then onto Ellery Gap Big Hole…
The ochre pits, this was actually really cool to see!
Then finally Ormiston Gorge, this place was BEAUTIFUL!
Day 9 – Finke Gorge NP and Owens Springs Reserve
This was by far our FAVOURITE day and kind of the whole point of this trip to go Four Wheel Driving!
We stopped alot along the way and at the spot below, Jade proposed to me!
Here is the ring please excuse my wonky little finger!
Happiest day of my life so far!
Jade absolutely LOVED the real four wheel driving over the rocks and I have to admit it was pretty darm fun and also scary in some places!
After Finke Gorge we went on to do the Owens Springs Reserve track which after Finke was super easy!
That night we went out for dinner at one of the fancier places in town to celebrate!
(Once again I ate a variety of Aussie animals…)
