I see so much bullying nowadays and it saddens me. Especially when kids as young as 6 are being bullied for trivial things!
Let me tell you a little about my past and why I am the way I am today…
I was teased and bullied extensively all throughout my school life. In primary school for being fat and having short hair (I distinctly remember the name Fudge Cake) and in high school because I was different, I wasn’t skinny and didn’t quite fit in. Let’s just say high school was not pleasant. (Quite frankly I am glad I am different, I wouldn’t be the creative mind I am without being ‘different’)
I was also told that I would be nothing more than a toilet cleaner and as recent as 5 years ago that I would never own a new car by a then so called boyfriend. (Proved him wrong didn’t I?)
Even today people try to bully me, say shit about me and try and tear me down but today I just laugh at them, today I sit back and laugh at all my bullies because where are they now? Nowhere.
My bullies made me the person I am today, tough skinned, strong and un-yeilding; I know no-one can tear me down, I will not allow it.
What got me through the years of constant bullying? I very rarely let it get to me. Deep down even then I was strong willed and knew I was going to be a someone. Never let your child let go of their dream. Tell them to keep on fighting for it, it may take a while but in the end the hardwork will pay off and to all those bullies out there…. As Christina Aguilera once sung…
“Makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
It makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
Makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter”
Don’t give up, don’t let it get to you, do not change who you are for society. Stay strong and you will make it through. Believe in yourself even when no one else will.
Be a Fighter.
I started an Anti-bullying campaign at the start of June…
Here are a few of the images from the shoot….
